お歳暮(せいぼ) Year-end Gift

Are you excited for Christmas Presents?

In Japan, we have a cultural tradition to send gifts to your family, friends, coworkers and someone who are important to you.
It is a gift to show your appreciation and is called お歳暮(せいぼ) Year-end Gift.
We send お歳暮 in December, but it is not considered as a Christmas present.
People usually send a box of food or drink, which costs around 3,000-5,000 yen.
When you send it, you need to wrap with a white paper that says お歳暮 that has red and white ribbon on it.
Red and white colors are often used for congratulatory events in Japan.

I actually have never sent お歳暮 to someone before, but my parents send お歳暮 to their families and friends who lives in the different prefectures every year.
If you are in Japan, you might see the delivery men carrying the boxes wrapped with this paper around this time of the year.
Maybe you can print this wrapping paper out and wrap your box of gift and give it for someone special as a お歳暮 this year :D
